My younger self would have been so excited to know that I'd be working for the coolest bike brand in the neighborhood 20 years down the line, in my home state no less. For inspiration on this shoot, I looked heavily at early 2000s BMX and skate photography. I wanted to bring back as much of a childhood feel as I could for this project, because when I think of Mongoose bikes, I think of riding around in the desert making dirt jumps and having magazine ads pinned on my bedroom walls. That feeling of freedom a bike provides as a kid is unparalleled, and I tried to take that into consideration when planning this 50th anniversary video and photo project. Mongoose was so trusting throughout the entirety of this project, allowing us to pull out every type of camera we could get our hands on and embracing the tone we were trying to achieve. Hopefully, this project reminds you that bikes are really, really fun.
